Helping a Child Understand!

I now offer tutoring in Elementary though High School in Math, Science, History, Writing, Reading, as well as tennis and chess for enrichment.My lessons are holistic.  I incorporate academic subjects into my lessons as well as art.  Here you can see a first-grade student and I looking at mind-blowing artwork of M.C. Usually the problem is that Children don't understand the concept of what they are learning.  It's not their fault; they are generally taught a fact and then quizzed on it.  Without understanding, any learning is fleeting.

Once a student understands a concept, it is easy to learn.  Sadly, with No Child Left Behind, teachers usually don't teach concepts, just provide a set of facts and answers for the test.  This student will be hopelessly confused.

By first understanding the concept of what one learns, it is easy to examine some simple examples to demonstrate understanding.  This is a child that will have confidence and learning will be easy.  Now it makes sense.
